CWS specializes in the design and manufacture of corrugated fish and debris screens.  The company was started in 2014 by Brent Mefford, P.E. after retiring from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.  Brent worked as a Hydraulic Engineer specializing in fisheries engineering for much of his 33 years at the Bureau.  He carried out fish screening research, fish screen design and conducted field investigations of screening operations throughout the western United States.  He is especially interested in providing effective screening for native fish species, many of which are very susceptible to entrainment and screen impingement during early life stages.  After leaving the Bureau he has continued to work on fish screen designs with the goals of improving fish protection and reducing screen maintenance.   CWS offers a new style of fish and debris screens using custom designed corrugated perforated metal plate that makes screening less problematic.
